Racer Tips & Best Practices

Overview

These ten tips will help you get the most out of your Racery virtual race — from logging miles more effectively to connecting with fellow participants.

1. Use the App

Download the Racery Virtual Races app (iPhone or Android) for the fastest mileage logging experience. The app is optimized for quick entries and race browsing on the go.

2. Log on the Race Page

Whether you use the app or web, logging directly on the race page unlocks the full experience: Google Street Views of your virtual location, photo uploads, and instant personal achievement awards.

3. Use Hashtags

Add hashtags when logging miles to filter activity logs, find patterns in your mileage, and connect with like-minded participants. The # input auto-suggests popular hashtags in your race.

Tag your routes, weather, goals, or location — e.g., #morningrun, #trailday, #streak.

4. Tag People with @Mentions

Add @nickname in comments to notify other racers. Use mentions to celebrate teammates, cheer on someone you passed on the virtual route, or coordinate meetups.

5. Add Photos

Upload photos when logging — shoes, running buddies, scenery, gym sessions. Your photos appear in the activity feed and build a personal visual log on your bio page.

6. Visit Your Bio Page

Access your bio via "my bio" in the top-right navigation when logged in. Your bio page shows your complete history across current and previous races — a personal record of everything you've accomplished.

7. Complete Your Profile

Upload a bio photo (it personalizes your avatar on the map), add your age, location, and affiliations. Browse other participants' bios to find connections — you might discover a colleague in another office who shares your running route.

8. Share Your Awards

Digital bibs, finish awards, and badges are optimized for sharing on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Each piece of bling shows your name, team, and race details — a personal keepsake worth sharing.

9. Use the Messageboard

Share routes, healthy tips, race ideas, recipes, meetup info, or anecdotes on the race messageboard. Use @mentions to tag specific people for notifications.

Tip: The messageboard is where race communities come alive — don't just lurk. A quick post about your morning walk can spark conversations across the organization.
